I know that a number of nokia phones now come with pre-installed readers and I read that some android phones now come with them installed.
I debated about waiting but decided to go ahead and do a little in the library now with QR codes, mainly for exposure.
In another year I think we'll see significant uptake in QR code usage in the U.S., likely driven by the retail industry.Robin Ashfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04867035352518158417noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-180526233196219825.post-22284865359615295522010-08-18T17:31:54.812-07:002010-08-18T17:31:54.812-07:00I understand why librarians are so excited by QRco...I understand why librarians are so excited by QRcodes. I myself blogged about it in the past.

The main issue I think is that phones aren't preequipped with qrcode readers apps

To expect users to go download a qrcode just to use is IMHO a pretty hard sell. Most users are just not motivated

what little research I've seen so far (mostly from UK academic libs) on usage is not encouraging though of
course it's early days.

That said it's worth a try since qrcodes are not expensive to add.

If apple or androids phone preinstalled qrcode readers i'm certain adoption will skyrocket.Aaron Tayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02750645621492448678noreply@blogger.com
